《 ♥︎ A SHORT STORY ♥︎ 》

The warm golden hues of the summer sun danced across the expansive campus of Osmania University, where proud neem trees stood like ancient sentinels.

The tantalizing scent of freshly brewed chai floated on the breeze, blending with the distant sound of laughter.

In this lively setting, Sahithi, a fiercely independent and headstrong final-year literature student, immersed herself in her journal, writing down poetic verses with fervor.

Her life was organized, a world of words and untold emotions bound by her careful choice.

Until one day, her path crossed with that of Chaitvik, an engineering student with a brooding demeanor and a mischievous streak.

His curious nature matched his ability to paint stories on canvas rather than paper. Their worlds unexpectedly collided, creating an encounter neither had anticipated.

It all started with stolen glances and secret observations.

Sahithi would often spend time beneath the leafy banyan tree near the library, completely oblivious to Chaitvik's lovingly drawing her portrait with delicate charcoal strokes on his notebook.

The first time he attempted to chat with her, she brushed him off with a raised eyebrow, and his carefree attitude failed to impress her.

Chaitvik smirked, his dimpled grin only serving to deepen the frown on Sahithi's face.
"You know," he teased, "Books can not only teach you so much. Sometimes, the best stories are found in people."

"But people invariably let you down," she replied quietly, her voice betraying a tinge of melancholy.

Chaitvik refrained from pressing her for an explanation. Instead, he decided to leave her sketches of the places she held dear, tucking them into her journal when she wasn't looking.
One day, she discovered a note tucked beneath one of the sketches.

It read, "What if not everyone disappoints? What if someone stays?"
For the first time in years, Sahithi paused for a moment, contemplating his words.

Their relationship blossomed through quiet gestures of friendship-sharing cups of strong filter coffee at the canteen, leisurely evening strolls along the shimmering Hussain Sagar Lake, and passionate debates that left them both breathless.

Chaitvik opened Sahithi's eyes to the magic of spontaneous moments and impulsive decisions while she lovingly introduced him to the profound depth of emotions hidden within the written word.

One fateful monsoon night, they found themselves drenched in rain, their laughter bouncing off the ancient walls of Charminar as he spun her around beneath the swaying streetlights.

In a heartfelt whisper, he uttered, "Marry me one day."
She responded with a laugh, but behind the sparkle in her dark eyes, a glimmer of hope flickered.

But love, like a torrential monsoon, doesn't always bring comfort; rather, it can bring unexpected storms.

A job offer in Bangalore became a sudden and jarring storm, creating a rift between Chaitvik and Sahithi.

She, who feared being abandoned, retreated into her own world, believing that distance would sever the ties they had forged.

With a whisper, she tried to convince her heart, "Maybe it was just a phase."

Chaitvik, left heartbroken yet resolute, departed-but not before leaving behind a bittersweet note.

It read, "Some stories don't end with goodbyes. They wait to be rewritten."

She crumpled the note and threw it into the trash at first, but suddenly her hand grabbed it from the trash.

He might be the only one who understood her. How could she let him go?

"Wait! Wait!" Her heart echoed, desperately grasping at the slipping hope.

Tossing her books aside, she ran onto the rain-soaked streets, looking for him.

He was gone. Only the fading glow of the streetlights remained.

Months slipped by, and life carried on, but the empty space under the banyan tree left Sahithi haunted.

Upon discovering his old sketches one night, the weight of everything hit her forcefully. Chaitvik had been right all along; not everyone abandons you.

Summoning her courage, Sahithi boarded the first train to Bangalore, holding onto his old note like a lifeline, her heart filled with anticipation and hope.

Her heart fluttered as she finally found him in his art studio, paint adorning his weary frame.

With a mix of trepidation and determination, she spoke the words that had been buried in her heart for so long.

"Not all stories end. Some begin again."

As he wrapped his arms around her, their story, indeed, was just beginning once more.
